Nonlinear crystals Applications

NLO Crystals is short for Nonlinear Crystals, means the crystals that can generate nonlinear optical effect from laser beam or electricity, magnetic field and strain field.

NLO Crystals (Non-linear Optical Crystals) are used for extending the laser spectrum from deep UV to far IR by various harmonic generations (SHG, THG), sum frequency generations (SFG), difference frequency generations (DFG) and optical parametric oscillators (OPO).

The search for new organic nonlinear optical crystals has been of great interest because of their wide range of potential applications such as frequency doubling, optical switching, optical disk data storage, optical modulation, laser remote sensing and medical diagnostics. These materials attracting significant attention as they posses large nonlinear optical susceptibilities, ultrafast nonlinear response time, high laser damage threshold and scope for introducing desirable characteristics by multifunctional substitutions [1-3]. For NLO device applications still there is a demand for good quality crystals with higher efficiency.   For the past ten years amino acids are playing a vital role in the nonlinear optical crystal growth.

The most common used NLO crystals include BBO, KTP, LBO Crystals , KD*P(DKDP), KTA, LiNbO3, AgGaS2, KDP, ADP, LiIO3, KNbO3, CLBO, KBBF, BiBO AgGaSe2, etc.
